Chapter 497 497: An Unexpected Turn 2
"With the blessings of our almighty lord, Chaos, we have seized this moment!" boomed one of the crimson mages, their voice thunderous and commanding. "His might has immobilized the portals for a mere five minutes - a fleeting span, yet ample to lay waste to the empire's sprouting seeds.
"Worshippers of Death and Chaos, Leave none of them standing!"
"Prove your worth to the ones you serve by killing the young ones of the empire and feasting on their tender flesh!"
A formidable aura pulsed from them, resonating with the formidable strength of high-level aura masters and mages. The raw power they emanated was so intense it sent a wave of unease through their targets. Those who sensed their power trembled, apprehension gnawing at their hearts.
"How are we going to survive against such bastards?"
"The portals aren't working. We can't run away. We are trapped in this place with them."
"Holy shit! We are fucked!"
"Oh, Sun, please protect your believers!"
It was an encounter they couldn't evade nor flee from. The trial, initially a test of courage and strength, had taken an abrupt, sinister turn. They felt afraid and vulnerable. Even Prince Victor, who had the power of authority, wasn't confident about surviving against so many powerful enemies for five minutes. It seemed like they were really going to lose their life.
However, just then, a calm voice echoed throughout the area that was enveloped in the dark.
"I must say, Your lord is quite foolish. He trapped you in here with me." Roy snarled. "Well, if you communicate with him in this situation, tell your lord Chaos that his minions are about to meet their end right here right now!" His gaze was icy as it met the eyes of the crimson mages.
One of the chaos followers sneered. "I'll make sure you're the first to go down, boy."
The chaos follower's sneer hung frozen in the air.
With the proclamation hanging between them, he lunged towards Roy, his monstrous bat descending with a malevolent intent.
"Seeking death from the outset? Typical of someone who sold their humanity for power," Roy retorted, his lips curling into a sardonic smile.
His hand, gripping the hilt of his sword, swung swiftly in an upward arc.
Song of the Night!
In a twinkling, a terrifying arc of darkness flashed into existence and hurtled through the air rapidly, ascending with deadly precision.
In a heartbeat, it intersected the path of the lunging bat and its rider. The chaos follower's trajectory halted abruptly as he was bifurcated clean in two, along with his beastly mount.
An echoing gasp punctured the stunned silence among the chaos followers as they witnessed the brutal demise of their comrade.
"No way! A mere trainee...how did he...?" stuttered one chaos follower, disbelief clouding his features.
Prince Victor's voice trembled, his shock palpable, "Did you see that? He...he just annihilated an aura master with a single swing! I doubt I could do that even at my peak power."
Jack's response was solemn, "We're of a different breed, Your Highness. There's no basis for comparison."
"This...this is unfathomable! A trainee holding such immense power...he extinguished a high-level Chaos Worshipper like squashing a bug!" An undead mage stammered, eyes bulging in disbelief.
The leader of the invaders wore a grim expression, "We underestimated him. This youth is no ordinary trainee."
"One of our Lord's few miscalculations. However, he might not hold the advantage if we all attack him together." Another murmured. However, apprehension was etched on his face. It was clear that he was finding it hard to believe himself.
Meanwhile, the system's notification rang in Roy's mind.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have eliminated a high-level chaos follower. You have accrued 2800 EXP!] [The chaotic essence has been extracted, purified, and converted into EXP for your benefit!] [Congratulations, Host! You have earned an additional 28000 EXP!]
Roy grinned devilishly, a flick of his tongue sliding across his lips. "Delicious," he murmured, his eyes glinting with a demonic light that sent shivers down the spines of the airborne foes above.
Casting his gaze toward them, he declared, "You're next!"
The leader of the invaders sneered, rage marring his visage.
"Crush this audacious whelp!" he commanded.
As expected, his commands were followed by his ball lickers!
Roy watched as the air before he swarmed with foes, a cloud of ominous bats swooping down, their riders' eyes flashing with intent to kill. The overwhelming number of Crimson Mages and Chaos Followers loomed like a storm, their collective power a tempest threatening to swallow him whole.
Yet Roy stood unfazed.
Rather, he was amused.
"You're resorting to this, and you think you stand a chance against me?" He couldn't help but scoff at their ignorance. "I pity you fools. Rushing towards your own graves, oblivious and fearless! Such a pitiful sight!"
His audacious statement left everyone in a state of shock. Following his declaration, he did something even more astounding. With a single powerful thrust, he soared into the air on his sword, ascending towards the sea of enemies. He seemed to cut through the dusky atmosphere of the Everlasting Hollows effortlessly, a solitary figure rising against an impending storm. The sight was too heroic to be comprehended easily, causing the onlookers to freeze in their tracks, their hearts pounding wildly in their chests.
Would he emerge victorious from this encounter?
Or would he be swallowed by the overwhelming enemy force?
Under normal circumstances, they might have wished for his downfall, envious of his power and luck with women. But now, every single one of them prayed fervently for his triumph. If he were to lose this battle, they, too, would be staring at the face of death!
One against a horde.
It was a breathtaking scene!
"Engulf him!" the leader roared.
Upon his command, each invader launched a powerful spell towards Roy.
However, Roy remained undeterred by the shower of spells descending upon him.
"If this is the extend of your power, you are bound to be dissapointed today!"
As he said this, he showed them what he was capable of. A dark sea erupted around him, expanding in a blink and swallowing every incoming attack effortlessly.
Just like that, the collective attack of an entire legion of evil was nullified.
