Legacy of the Betelgeuse

Chapter 320 - Episode 320: A Falling Star.

Two weeks have passed in real-time, I'm staring at the Third District from the castle with Avriel and Krestan standing behind me. So many players have joined the force, I don't know how many exactly but last week Ivonna, Kingstar, Boschwell, and Liu have recruited more than five million players for this cause. The rumors about the second invasion have been spreading around the community and I guess there's no way for us to hide it from them.

Krestan is leaning on the wall while staring at those players then he looks at me while crossing his arms.

"Is it true that the second invasion will happen?"

I look at him and nod.

"Yes, the invasion will happen not long after the falling star hit the desert."

Avriel looks at the front door and she immediately disappears, I look at the door, and then I hear someone knocking on the door.

"Come in..."

The gate is opened and I see Saintess Aria and the Arch Bishop are walking toward me, I can see from her expression that she's worried about something.

I let her sit at the round table while I'm sitting on the other side of the table with Krestan standing behind me. Saintess Aria is staring at Krestan for a second but then she smiles at him while Krestan bows his head at her.

"Master Trevor, we have received news from the astrologist that it will happen within a few days from now."

I'm humming with understanding while pressing and putting both of my hands in front of my mouth.

"Okay, are the three sovereignties have been informed that there will be a chance that another invasion will happen?"

Saintess Aria nods.

"I have, they have promised and are ready to send their forces when the time comes."

I nod while sighing.

"That's great news. We also have prepared at least five million people for this."

Saintess Aria is raising with a surprised expression.

"That should be enough, right?"

I look at her and slowly shake my head.

"Unfortunately, I don't think that would be enough. I have a feeling that it won't be that easy and we have no idea what kind of being will appear from this event. So, we are still recruiting people to join the fight."

Saintess Aria is covering her mouth with her fingers but then she looks at the Arch Bishop.

"There is something else that we want to tell you, Master Trevor."

The Arch Bishop grabs a scroll from under his sleeve and then puts it on the middle of the table.

I grab it and open the scroll, turns out its information from around the three sovereignties that there are still some subjects that roam around the forest. It seems that those subjects that Aspen and Kalitzar let loose are now freely roam the area without having a problem surviving.

I tilt my head and raise my eyebrows.

"Avriel, are you here?"

Avriel appears from the shadow and nods, she approaches me and stands next to Krestan while staring at Saintess Aria.

I look at both of them and show the scroll to them.

"Can you guys handle it for me?"

They both are done reading the content and then nod, Avriel looks at me while smiling confidently.

"Leave it to us, it won't take long until we hunt them down."

I nod with understanding and then Krestan opens a portal for both of them then they enter the portal and disappear.

Saintess Aria is smiling at me happily.

"Thank you for the help, Master Trevor."

I nod while smiling.

Diamond and Lothair come into the room and they both are surprised to see Saintess Aria is here, they both then sit down next to me while staring at her. Diamond looks at both of us back and forth while raising his eyebrows.

"What's happening?"

I shake my head.

"Nothing, it's just a report that the three sovereignties are ready to help us during the invasion later."

They both are humming with understanding and then ask a few questions to her.

I stand up and walk to the window to see Kingstar and the others are training and dueling with the players.

Saintess Aria and Arch Bishop decide to leave after they're done having a conversation with Diamond and Lothair. Saintess Aria casts a portal to go back to the Holy Temple.

Diamond and Lothair are standing next to me, Lothair is crossing his arms while relaxing his shoulders.

"It will happen in a few days, huh?"

I'm humming in agreement.

"I guess we should rest for the next few days, and tell the others about it."

They both nod with understanding and then leave the room.

3 days have passed in-game time, and we all are standing on the border where the grass turns into the desert right in front of us with Saintess Aria and all the generals with hundreds of armies and millions of players.

The astrologists are staring at the sky and observing the anomaly that only they can see. It's so cold out here since it's night time but then the astrologists are running toward us while pointing their finger at the sky.

"It's coming! It's coming!"

We all look at the sky and there's a tiny bright dot that looks like a normal star in the sky but slowly it gets bigger and bigger. Ivonna looks at me while gulping.

"Is it safe for us to be here?"

I nod.

"Yeah, we should be safe here we are technically not in the desert."

Everyone is looking at me and believing my words.

The dot is getting bigger and bigger, in less than a minute the dark sky turns to daylight because it's so bright that we have to cover our eyes. We can't tell how big the thing is but we can only see that it's about to hit the desert in any second.

The ground trembles heavily that everyone falls down on their back while I'm trying my best to keep standing but then I fall as well.

We can see the sands are thrown away from the impact and all of them are glowing red. The sand keeps popping out into the sky like popcorn and then the shockwave hits all of us and sends everyone flying but not me because Ivonna is protecting me with Krestan putting the barrier in front of us.

Everyone stands up and they look at the meteor scatters into pieces but the flame makes it look like we are staring at the sunset.

We have been staring at it for an hour and it seems that it's over already, none of them dare to move a muscle but then I look at Kingstar and the others.

"Let's check it out."

All of them are looking at me while nodding.

Everyone rides their mounts while some are riding their Amruchis, I'm sitting on Aegis' back with Ivonna.

I don't know how far it's but we keep on advancing toward the falling star.

The sun is rising, and then we finally can see the furthest effect of the impact.

Shiny things are spreading around the desert, Kingstar approaches one of them and grabs it, he's surprised that it's a glass. It's a basic reaction when sand is melted at some point it will turn into glass, so it's a normal phenomenon in this case.

The further we go the hotter it gets even though the wind is still cold. We decide to go on foot and carefully walk through the glasses that are still hot.

We can see boulders of fragments from the falling star, Grisell immediately runs toward it because she wants to check if she can use it as a material. The rest of them are spreading to check if there's a sign of living beings that came down with the meteorite.

We all stop and look at the massive crater made of glass, we can't go further because it will melt our footwear no matter what we use. We can only the glasses that look like a tide wave blocking us from seeing the center of the crater.

Kingstar is crossing his arms with sweats covering his face.

"What should we do?"

I look at Ivonna and raise my eyebrows.

"Can you fly up there with Aegis' help and then check what's in the middle of the crater?"

Ivonna nods with understanding and then summons Aegis.

Ivonna flies up to the sky while everyone is looking at her from the ground. We can see her keep flying upward since the glasses are so tall that it needs time even for her to see what's behind them.

We can hear Aegis is neighing from down here and then we can see Ivonna is diving down as fast as she can.

Ivonna comes down from Aegis' back and she looks so pale, everyone is staring at her with curiosity but then she looks at me while gulping.

"Something is buried inside... something big..."

Everyone is confused and Kingstar looks at her while furrowing his forehead.

"What are you talking about?"

Ivonna looks at us while taking a deep breath.

"The meteorite dug up a monster that's buried down inside the sand, and I think that monster is the next being that we have to kill."
