Immortal of the Ages

Chapter 706: Three White Tigers!

Chapter 706: Three White Tigers!

Rain pattered down, heavy as the blood of corpses, upon the divine land of the Celestial Court, transforming the once splendid palaces into a foul ocean stained with death. The air was thick with the cries of tormented spirits, making this world resemble a graveyard of despair.

The Great Mother had fled amidst the chaos of battle, leaving behind a lone corpse demon in the swirling vortex of death. This corpse demon was different—born from a solitary human corpse deep in the ocean, evolved from a singular, intact grudge. She possessed a higher intelligence, a unified will, and an uncanny ability to conceal herself.

Yun Xiao had given her free rein to devour everything left by the Great Mother and spawned anew by the battlefield. And she did just as Yun Xiao commanded.

"It's too much…" she murmured as she drifted through the sea of blood and corpses. At first overwhelmed, her appetite grew with time, allowing her to gorge with increasing ease.

Invisible to most, this deep-sea corpse demon quietly became a nightmare between heaven and earth on this battlefield of blood and bone. Few demons, devils, or Immortals ever laid eyes on her, and those who did were swiftly devoured, treated as just fresher food.

Her form expanded, yet her aura of death and resentment remained curiously subdued. An untainted corpse demon of her kind was unheard of in history. Others might wallow in filth; she was like the clear depths of the ocean, shimmering with light.

"Until he says stop, I will continue," she resolved, blending into the carnage, first consuming a third of the Great Mother's essence, then sweeping through the entire Heavenly Palace, sparing no fallen warrior.

The high ranking demons and devils had fled, the Constellation Army was in hot pursuit, and the celestial officials and powerful imperial family members remained in the Taiwei Imperial Palace, oblivious to the fact that their hard-won victory was birthing a formidable new foe.

"Emperor Taiwei of the White…"

In a secluded corner outside the Taiwei Imperial Palace, a pair of cold eyes belonged to Yun Xiao himself, fixated on the grand structure. Simultaneously, he extracted a flesh orb from his robe, which on the ground, morphed into a silver-haired, fox-eared youth.

Stretching his limbs, the youth's body let a crackle and pop, then left Yun Xiao to follow the path the Great Mother had taken. No words were exchanged between them. After all, why would he converse with his own body double as if he were a separate entity?

In this desperate hour for power, Yun Xiao sent his body double to chase the Great Mother, a move that hinted at priorities of greater importance.

Without the Divine Desolation Physique, his immediate combat capabilities indeed suffered a qualitative decline.

"We were close to crushing the imperial family with the power of the Great Mother, but I never anticipated that the White Emperor would resort to using the Immortal Asylum..." Yun Xiao muttered.

This development was outside of his expectations.

Fortunately, in this battle, the Great Mother, Naraka, and Constellation Army all sustained severe losses, over seventy percent, a devastating blow.

"How is the White Emperor now?" Yun Xiao wondered. The scene of the Great Mother being bisected was etched deeply in his mind.

Yun Xiao was not particularly fearful of the White Emperor, but the Immortal Asylum, a divine artifact shrouded in uncertainty, did give him pause.

"Looking at the current situation, once the White Emperor recovers, he'll surely head straight for the Thunder Department to deal with me."

The situation was still critical! Had it not been for the Immortal Asylum, Yun Xiao would have likely intervened in the life and death battle between the Great Mother and White Emperor.

But now, uncertainty had magnified.

BUZZ! Just then, a crimson shield suddenly erected itself outside the Taiwei Imperial Palace, forming a sanguine barrier that protected it. The shield, pulsing like the heart of some creature, throbbed with surges of bloody light.

"What's this now?"

A cool, clear female voice suddenly spoke from behind Yun Xiao. Turning, he saw a girl in a pristine white dress standing behind him, a small white tiger on each shoulder and one in her arms—so small, they resembled three little kittens.

These three white tigers were likely the two Primordial Doom Stars and Primordial Pagoda.

Another one of her treasures, the Primordial Bell, was on Yun Xiao himself.

Her presence brought him a semblance of peace.

"It appears to be a kind of celestial formation, but from its properties, it doesn't seem to be one of the Celestial Court's. It’s more likely related to the Immortal Asylum," Yun Xiao suggested.

"After defeating the Great Mother, they didn't pursue her but instead hid inside the Taiwei Imperial Palace, raising a defensive barrier. This suggests that the situation for the White Emperor is far from good," Divine Dawn observed with piercing eyes.

She looked at Yun Xiao, adding, "This could be our best opportunity to act."

Yun Xiao thought for a moment, then shook his head. "It's only a possibility. The exact condition of the White Emperor is still unclear."

And he had already sent Moon Fairy far away.

"If you won't make a move, I will," Divine Dawn declared, having made up her mind.

"Then try," Yun Xiao replied, not wanting to sway her resolve.

As his words fell, the girl in the white dress had vanished from sight. The next moment, she appeared high above the Taiwei Imperial Palace, her sudden arrival drawing gasps of alarm.

With a mighty swing, she hurled the twin Primordial Doom Stars, which, like twin suns ablaze with thunder and flames, descended from the sky and smashed against the crimson barrier!

BOOM! BOOM! The stars rebounded high into the air after two deafening impacts, shaking the crimson barrier violently. Yet, instead of breaking, the shield thickened, its sanguine light intensifying and enveloping the Taiwei Imperial Palace in a cocoon of blood.

Divine Dawn bit her lip and unleashed her full arsenal in a flurry of strikes, but each assault only fortified the barrier further.

Finally, she retreated to Yun Xiao's side, clearly frustrated. "I hit it with everything I had, and no one even came out. It only proves how weak the White Emperor is right now."

"Indeed." Yun Xiao couldn't deny this and nodded in agreement.

"Why don’t you give it a try?" Divine Dawn challenged, glaring at him.

"You're stronger than I am, and if you couldn't break it, I definitely won’t be able to," Yun Xiao reasoned.

"What do we do then? Once he recovers, the trouble will be much greater," Divine Dawn said, her impatience flaring.

"Rushing won’t help. Let’s stay calm and think of a plan," Yun Xiao soothed.

Seeing his serene demeanor, Divine Dawn felt a surge of irritation. She stepped forward, flashing her tiny tiger teeth and gripping his garment, "They have no limits. Right now, with Lu Fan and the Great Mother posing no threat, they'll resort to despicable tactics once they target us. Our only chance is to seize the moment and eliminate them, to spare both the Great Dao Celestial Realm and mortal realm from further tragedy."

"I know," Yun Xiao responded, taking her hand gently. "But being anxious won’t help."

"What are you thinking then?" her voice softened, a mix of hurt in her tone and tears welling in her eyes.

"Since we can't break through this shield, our only option is to strengthen ourselves before the decisive battle," Yun Xiao explained.

Whether it was allowing Pale Revenant to sweep the battlefield or sending Moon Fairy back to the Celestial Demon Abyss, it all served this purpose.

"I've hardly any room to maneuver for now, unless..." Divine Dawn cast a sidelong glance at Yun Xiao.

She recalled the first and second times she had contributed to Yun Xiao. Now, the third time was upon them—it was time to drain him!

"Unless what?" Yun Xiao asked with a smile.

"Nothing!" Divine Dawn huffed, shooting him a look.

"Why do I find your mood so changeable? One moment calm, the next frantic, and then pitiable?" Yun Xiao mused.

"Isn't it because you've carved open my heart?" the girl in the white dress said, her eyes brimming with tears.

No sooner had she spoken than she shook her head vigorously and glared fiercely at Yun Xiao. "Enough with your familiarity; I don't know you," she snapped.

She pushed Yun Xiao away and then turned back to him, her eyes smoldering with passion, giving him a look that reminded him of when she was the Divine Dawn Empress, watching him from her throne.

One body, three personalities, seamlessly shifting, it genuinely left Yun Xiao stunned.

"Are you alright?" Yun Xiao asked, concerned.

"It's all your fault," she sobbed.

"There, there, no need to cry," Yun Xiao hurried to console her.

"Scoundrel, don't touch me!" She slapped away his arms, nearly fracturing them.

"Uh…?" Yun Xiao was baffled.

"Let's focus on stopping the imperial family from holding the mortal realm hostage," she said, her gaze laden with worry.

This was a more rational statement; Yun Xiao recognized that she was now Chen Xi.

Although she hailed from the bottom of the rung, her vision was broader than that of the tempestuous Seventh Princess and the tender Lian Xi.

"The mortal realm..." Speaking of which, Yun Xiao said, "I've encountered an entity that can help us with this."

"Who?" Divine Dawn asked eagerly.

"It's here."

As Yun Xiao looked towards Divine Dawn, an old man, stooped and thin, suddenly appeared amid the blood-red mists.
