Chapter 605: Living the Dream (1)
"I'll need some time to think it over…" Xueying murmured, tone sweet but eyes full of mischief.
"Sure…" Wang Xiao replied, chuckling as he gave her a light pat on the head. Xueying's expression darkened. 'A head pat? Seriously?'
Just then, Wang Xiao's thoughts were interrupted by a buzz in his mind. [I've located all gods linked to Zeus—alive and dead, no stone unturned…] Eveline's crisp voice broke through, snapping him out of the moment.
[Good. Keep tabs on them all, and if they so much as blink, report me, if needed — bring in Athene for your help,] Wang Xiao replied, an amused grin spreading.
His own game was well underway, and every one of them would eventually dance to his tune.
He had shared the last memory imprint of his attacker from Hollow Earth with Eveline, who confirmed it was none other than Zeus. How Zeus was still alive, let alone powerful enough to pull this off, he didn't know.
But one thing was sure—Wang Xiao wasn't about to sit around and wait for another godly ambush. Nope. It was time to lay some traps of his own, and he couldn't help but enjoy the thought.
The best part? This was also a test for Eveline. She might be loyal, but Wang Xiao knew better than to trust anyone blindly. She was under someone else's watch, and the whole thing would let him see who could hold their cards and who couldn't.
While he appeared to live his life as the arrogant, unsuspecting powerful fool, his real work had begun.
The Skinwalkers? Done. Reincarnated gods? Next in line, and he'd happily have them go at each other for sport. The Guardians were under Ji Xuehong's eye, the Church and dynasties would follow, and eventually, every single nuisance in his way would drop like flies.
Even the original Pangeans would find themselves on his list once Aurora was close at hand.
Everyone would play their part.
His eyes flicked briefly to Yue. That little girl had almost derailed things, but thankfully, he'd kept his plans to himself.
If she had known anything, his whole setup might've been ruined.
With a quiet laugh, he knew that soon, every last one of them would fall in line—or fall completely. Either way, he'd enjoy the show.
Whoosh!
"Where do you two think you're sneaking off to?" Wang Xiao's voice cut through his thoughts as he noticed Wang Mei and Wang Xueying getting up to leave. In a flash, he caught both their wrists.
"Mm?"
"??"
They both looked at him, surprise flashing in their eyes.
Around them, the living room felt overly bright for the evening, casting a strange glow over the place. The room was spacious, yet sitting this close on the same couch suddenly felt… uncomfortable. Unnerving, even—especially here, in their own home.
Sure, their mother wasn't around, which technically meant they could do whatever they wanted, but something about it felt off.
Old habits die hard, apparently.
Wang Xiao noticed the subtle tension in both of their stances and smirked. "Why don't you two tell me about this little 'deal' you've made?" he asked, his grip still firm around their wrists.
"What deal?" Wang Mei replied, feigning innocence, though her hand remained caught in his.
Wang Xueying shot her a quick, alarmed glance, but Wang Mei either didn't see it or pretended not to, falling right into Wang Xiao's trap.
Wang Xiao grinned, casting Xueying a look of triumph. "The one where you two agreed to stop bickering and suddenly play nice?"
"!!"
Xueying's cheeks reddened. Of course, he'd figured it out.
But Wang Xiao wasn't done. With a hint of amusement, he added, "Didn't you two even agree to form some sort of 'sisters' faction'?" He chuckled. "Trying to team up against my other women? Other than Anran… do you even know who they all are, by the way?"
"!!!"
Their faces turned even redder, clearly caught off guard.
Wang Mei looked at him, wide-eyed. "How…?"
"Idiot," Wang Xueying sighed, shaking her head. "He could've just 'heard' us," she muttered, realizing too late how obvious it was. Why hadn't she thought of that before?
Wang Xiao gave a low chuckle, as if reading her mind. "I could hear you both from the other end of the world, if I felt like it…"
"You—" Xueying stopped, stunned. She'd been thinking about taking their future "talks" miles away, to be safe. But this? He could hear them from that far?
It felt way too much, even for him.
"So, now that we're all on the same page, don't you think it's about time you stop ignoring your only husband and focus on making him happy?" Wang Xiao added smoothly, barely flinching as he shamelessly declared himself their "husband."
"Husband… and who decided that?" Wang Xueying rolled her eyes, her cheeks heating up despite her attempts to play it cool.
Beside her, Wang Mei pressed her lips together, avoiding his gaze. She'd called him far worse in the quiet of the night—usually under his "persuasion"—but she wasn't about to admit that.
Wang Xiao had no intention of letting either of them slip away tonight. In one swift move, he pulled both sisters onto his lap, their faces mere inches from his, eyes wide with surprise.
"Ah!" They both yelped, caught off guard, their hearts pounding. But his grip was firm, his gaze steady, and they quickly fell silent, heat creeping up their cheeks.
"Of course I decided that," he said with a smug grin. "Or do you have some hidden man you're keeping from me?" His gaze slid over to Xueying, who shook her head, her cheeks bright red. He leaned in and planted a kiss on her cheek, breathing in the soft, tempting scent of peonies.
Wang Xueying's eyes went wide, her face turning crimson as he kissed her in front of Wang Mei. But before she could even think to react, his hands tightened around their waists, pulling them in even closer.
"Wh—?"
It happened too fast to resist. His lips pressed against theirs, one then the other, deepening the kiss. Wang Xueying's pulse raced, her face burning hot, but when she stole a glance at Wang Mei, she saw her sister had already melted into it, her face just as red but her lips moving in sync with his, giving in without hesitation.
"Mmmmgnn~"
Not one to be outdone, Xueying placed her hands firmly on his chest, ignoring the embarrassment burning through her.
"Mmmmghhhhhhhh..."
She matched her sister's movements, her touch hesitant but unwilling to fall behind.
Wang Xiao chuckled inwardly. If "unity is strength" was the motto of their little faction, then he'd happily support it—for he was a master at turning unity into his own game of divide and conquer.
